RPC Census Maps  Census Links           Using Census Data

To assist local government agencies, the business community, schools, community organizations and the general public in the utilization of data from the US Department of the Census, our staff is creating a Census Tracts Map Series that provides coverage of our member-parishes. As each map is completed, the PDF file will be placed on our Web site.

Map Content: US Census maps and information were used to create our maps. Every effort has been made to produce accurate maps. However, the user should keep in mind that these are not official US Census maps and as such may not be used for legal or official purposes. If you notice any omissions or errors, please notify us so we can revise our maps.

Map Updates and Revisions: If some time has passed since you downloaded a map, check this Website to verify that you are using the latest edition. As maps are revised, the date they were changed will be placed on each map.

PDF Files: Adobe's Portable Document Format (PDF) is a universal file format that preserves all the fonts, formatting, graphics and color of any source document. PDF files can be shared, viewed, zoomed, scrolled, navigated and printed by using Adobe Reader.

Reproduction: The smallest size these maps are designed to be printed at is 11" x 17" ( in order to keep detail as legible as possible, while providing coverage of a significant area of land on each map). These maps can be printed to fit letter-size paper, however, the Census Block-Group numbers are somewhat difficult to read at that size. The Census Tract Boundaries (delineated in red) remain fairly easy to read when printed at the smaller size. These maps may be printed on plotters at much larger sizes (24" x 36" for example). The lettering, lines and other map features remain crisp and clear at the larger sizes.

Note: If your printer cannot print at 11" x 17" just download the file and take it to a copy center.

What these maps look like: To give you an idea of what these maps look like (so you don't have to open the PDF file just to see one), we have provided a representative thumbnail of an entire map, and an enlarged section below:
