Transportation The RPC has become increasingly pro-active in seeking public input to the transportation planning and decision-making process at both the neighborhood and regional level. Significant progress has also been made in developing analytical tools to demonstrate early on in the planning process the cumulative impacts of transportation investment decisions taking land use, social and environmental, and economic consequences into study consideration. |

The RPC’s Public Involvement Plan is designed to be inclusive and to encourage participation by stake-holder groups at the business, civic, governmental and neighborhood levels. RPC’s Transportation Public Involvement Plan outlines our statutory responsibilities in the development of the Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP), Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) and annual Unified Work Program (UWP) for Transportation Planning. Current copies of all three documents are available online on RPC’s Web site. The Public Involvement Plan describes RPC’s participation, goals and policies, outreach activities and the formation of a Citizen’s Advisory Committee (CAC) consisting of a representative group of stakeholders to meet regularly to discuss issues of common concern. Members of the CAC focus on specific aspects of transportation planning and assist the RPC in development of specific and measurable goals, objectives objectives and strategies to address major transportation issues in the following areas:
