| The Regional Planning Commission in Brief Map of Member Parishes (PDF) Membership AffiliationsThe Regional Planning Commission for Jefferson, Orleans, Plaquemines, St. Bernard and St. Tammany Parishes, is a 26-member board of local elected officials and citizen members, appointed to represent you on regional issues. This board is supported by a staff of 22 professionals with broad experience, and doctorates or masters degrees, in a variety of areas including urban and regional planning, community development, economics, government, law, landscape architecture, transportation, geography and other disciplines. A Five-Parish Forum The RPC is the only forum in which the chief elected officials and community leaders of the five member-parishes come together in partnership once each month to discuss the Big Picture.RPC Members; Meetings and Public Notices The RPC provides a neutral venue to discuss regional issues, but it is also a policy-making body where legally binding decisions regarding the development of the entire region are made. and Legal Mandate The RPC was created in 1962 by the Louisiana state legislature and local governing body authorization. The RPC is one of eight regional planning bodies in the state established to fulfill federal and state requirements for regional comprehensive and economic development planning.
