Draft Metropolitan Transportation Plan Update Available for Comment

The Southeast Louisiana Regional Planning Commission is seeking public input on the draft Metropolitan Transportation Plan 2056 (MTP 2056).

The MTP establishes the region’s long-term vision, goals, strategies, and investment priorities for improving the transportation system through 2056. The draft plan addresses roadways, bridges, public transit, bicycle and pedestrian facilities, transportation safety, freight movement, system preservation, accessibility, and regional resilience.

Community members, local governments, transportation providers, businesses, and other interested parties are encouraged to review the draft MTP 2056 and provide feedback. Public input will help ensure the plan reflects the transportation needs and priorities of communities throughout Southeast Louisiana.

What Happens Next?

Following the public comment period, the Commission will review all comments and consider whether revisions are needed before taking action on adopting the plan. A summary of comments and responses will be included in the final public participation record.

The Transportation Policy Committee of the RPC is expected to consider adoption of the MTP at its meeting on October 13th, 2026.
