The St. Tammany Parish Government, in collaboration with the Regional Planning Commission and local stakeholders, developed a Comprehensive Pedestrian & Bicycle Master Plan to enhance the community’s pedestrian and bicycling infrastructure. This initiative identifies gaps in the parish’s transportation network and assesses land use, recreational facilities, and barriers to access while prioritizing resident input. Through workshops, surveys, and pop-up events, the project team gathered community feedback on preferred routes and improvements, ensuring that final recommendations reflect the needs of parish residents.
The Comprehensive Plan proposes an interconnected network of on- and off-street active transportation facilities, complete with cost estimates for each project. The project team prioritized initiatives based on community impact and identify potential funding sources for implementation. By integrating community insights and adhering to federal engagement requirements, the St. Tammany Parish Comprehensive Pedestrian & Bicycle Plan proposes a sustainable, connected, and accessible transportation system for current and future residents.
