Meetings
Federal law requires that Metropolitan Planning Organizations (MPO) conduct transportation planning activities to support the movement of freight as well as people. The Regional Planning Commission, MPO for the eight-parish New Orleans region, established a Freight Roundtable to bring public and private sector freight based entities together to share information, identify needs and inform the MPO planning and project prioritization process. The RPC Transportation Policy Board includes representation from each mode and is the entity with authority for programming federal funding for freight projects. The RPC Freight Roundtable meets quarterly as one of three RPC standing committees. It is open to the public.
