Resiliency

What is Resiliency in Transportation?

Under the current DOTD, the FAST Act expands the focus on the resiliency of the transportation system to reduce stormwater runoff from transportation infrastructure. In addition, it requires strategic efforts to reduce the vulnerability of existing transportation infrastructure to natural disasters.

How RPC is Approaching Resiliency

The RPC is approaching regional resiliency in multiple ways:

  • The Transportation Risk and Infrastructure Protection Plan (TRIP), which can be viewed here.
  • Acting as fiscal agent for Region 8 of the Louisiana Watershed Initiative, which works to increase regional resilience via watershed approach.
  • Incorporating resiliency and sustainability in RPC funded projects and studies.
